Daniel E. O'Dell

Daniel E. O'Dell 1940 - 2011 Daniel E. O'Dell passed away June 3rd at home from natural causes. Born April 24th, 1940 in Houston, Texas to James & Margarete O'Dell. He served time in the Navy during the Formosa conflict. He was a mechanical field engineer by trade. Idaho became home in the 80's due to his love of outdoor adventure. He was a devoted family man and solid in his faith in the Lord. He is survived by four children: Dan O'Dell Jr., Kelly O'Dell, Victoria Jezic, and Timothy Chance O'Dell; three grandchildren: Shelby O'Dell, Sasha and Mila Jezic; brother Michael O'Dell, and his wife Connie Aslett. Marie, his sister, James, his brother, and his parents were previously taken by our Lord. Memorial service for Dan is Tuesday the 7th of June in their home at 4:00 p.m. at 4030 E. Chinden.

Eugene Peterson

Ellsworth Eugene "Gene" Peterson, was born Feb. 25, 1929, in Parma, Ida., to Dale and Beulah Peterson. A life-long resident of Parma, God called him home on June 2, 2011. Gene served his country for two years in the US Army during the Korean War, and later worked for the Notus-Parma Highway District for 28 years, culminating his career as District Supervisor before his retirement in 1991. Gene was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to hunt birds and game, especially the squirrels that were stealing the nuts on his walnut trees. He would often take the family camping to any one of his favorite lakes, where he enjoyed fishing with his father, brother and sons. A passionate gardener, he cultivated a lush, productive garden every year for 40 years. After retiring, Gene became a master woodcrafter, building several fine furniture pieces and intricately designed artwork. He is known for being creative and talented in whatever he put his mind to. A loving husband and father, he is survived by his wife of 58 years, Janice; two sons, Rod and wife, Patti of Emmett, and Joel and wife, Shiela of Mililani, Hawaii; grandchildren, Coleen, Natalie, Paul, Nick, Vaughn and Victoria; and his sister, Eileen and husband, Ron Daniels of Keizer, Ore. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Beulah, his brother, Phillip, and his granddaughter, Rachel. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, June 9, at Dakan Funeral Chapel in Caldwell. A graveside ceremony will follow at Parma Cemetery. Family and close friends are invited to the Peterson home after the graveside service. Gene will be missed constantly by those loved ones he has left behind, but he will be greeted with joy by those he will see once again. Dad and Grandpa, we love you!

Gary Dudley

GARY ELLIS DUDLEY 1938~2011 Gary died peacefully at his home in Boise on Monday May 23rd after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Gary was born in Salt Lake City Utah, February 26th 1938. He graduated from Granite High School in 1956, had wonderful memories singing in the choir and playing trumpet and had his own quartet. Gary served a short time in the US Army before heading off to Denmark on an LDS mission. He married his first wife Kirsten Erikstrup in 1961; to that union their children Erik and Kristina were born. He completed a Bachelor degree in Business Management in 1969 and an MBA degree in 1970 from the University of Utah. He married Joye Lisk in 1989. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Dudley and Ethel Dudley, and his sister, Bette Ludington. Gary worked for Armour Food Company in Portland, Oregon and Phoenix, Arizona, then in food service as Sales & Marketing Manger nationally for Oregon Freeze Dried Foods (Philip Morris). He moved to Twin Falls to work for Universal Frozen Foods as National Sales Manager and later Marketing Director and lived in Sun Valley, Idaho during this time. Gary moved to Boise in 1988. Gary worked for SYSCO Food Services, then as an independent Food Broker. He served for nine years on the Boise Convention & Visitors Bureau Board of Directors. Gary retired in 2004 and worked part time at Dunkley Music and Association Management Inc. in Boise. Gary married RoseMarie Frost on March 14th, 2009 in McCall, Idaho. They visited South Africa for their honeymoon where Gary met RoseMarie's family and friends and he fell in love with Africa. They had recently returned from their second visit to South Africa, and the highlight for Gary on this trip was walking with the elephants at an elephant sanctuary. Gary enjoyed life to the fullest with Rosemarie, his family and friends. He was very proud of his Danish heritage. Gary loved music, traveling, adored his children, step-children, grandchildren, and step-grandchildren. He was an ardent football fan, supporting the Broncos. There was exciting travel to Denmark to visit his daughter, Kristina, son in law, Christian, and two grandchildren, Emily and Simon; his son, Erik, and daughter-in-law, Josie, in Los Angeles; his sister, Bette, brother- in- law, Walter, and family in Roseville, California; and visits to South Africa, Nicaragua, and Canada. Gary enjoyed singing with the Boise Master Chorale from 2000 to 2008 and also loved to sing karaoke. Gary later took guitar lessons so he could play and sing at family camp in McCall, Christmas caroling, and family get-togethers. Gary is survived by his wife, RoseMarie; his son, Erik, and daughter in law, Josie; daughter, Kristina, and son-in-law, Christian Stær Knudsen; grandchildren, Emily and Simon; brother-in-law, Walter Ludington; nephew, Alan Ludington; and niece, Ann Feliz, Ann's husband, Eric, and their children, Hannah and Donavan; "The Lisk" family, Mark and Jerri; Gloria and Brady Green; Shannon and Scott; step-grandson, Wyatt Lisk; step-children, Karen Sander and Rob McKenzie; and step-grandson, Cambel. Gary was loved, respected, and cherished; and he will be sorely missed by so many. He was a true gentleman. We are all so thankful for the wonderful memories and for Gary being such a special person in our lives. RIP Gary. There will be a celebration of Gary's Life at Relyea Funeral Chapel, 318 N. Hilario Vicandi, 77, of Caldwell, died Sunday, June 5, 2011, at home of natural causes. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, June 9, at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, Caldwell. Viewing will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, with Rosary Devotions at 7 p.m., at Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. Private family interment will be at Canyon Hill Cemetery, Caldwell. Hilario was born March 6, 1934, in Ibarruri, Vizcaya, Spain to Antonio and Ambrusia Guerricabetia Vicandi. He came to the United States in the early 1950s to work as a sheepherder for McLeod Sheep Ranch and worked there for nine years. During this time, he married Josefina Homaechevarria on Nov. 23, 1963, in Spain. In 1968, they moved to Elko, Nevada to work for John Carpenter's Cattle Ranch. They later moved back to Idaho in 1970 to work for J.R. Simplot Company. In 1972 they bought their farm in Caldwell and started a trucking business. Hilario enjoyed taking care of his cows, teasing his grandchildren and hunting and fishing. He was known for his sense of humor and orneriness. He is survived by his wife, Josefina of Caldwell; two daughters, Judy and Ken Schumacher of Lewiston and Lori and Mike Henderson of Caldwell; four grandchildren; Blake and Jaclyn Schumacher, and Lindsey and Britney Henderson; one brother, Antone and Marisol Vicandi, and one sister, Miren and Andoni Malosechebarria both of Spain; several nieces and nephews, two cousins, and sister-in-law Pilar Vicandi. Larry Gene Fife 1954 - 2011 Larry Gene Fife, 57, passed away April 17, 2011 suddenly at home from natural causes. Larry was born May 1, 1954 in Ouray Colorado, but spent all of his life in Idaho. He graduated from Wood River High School in Hailey Idaho. He then joined the navy and served aboard the Navy submarine USS Blueback, stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, until his discharge in 1976. Upon returning to Idaho, Larry enrolled at C.S.I. Twin Falls obtaining advanced bookkeeping degree. He next went to BSU for auto body restoration. An auto accident left Larry unable to do any more auto body work. Larry is survived by his parents, Ernest Fife of Twin Falls, Priscilla Fife-Easter, Meridian, 3 brothers, Ronald Fife of Boise, Lynn Fife of Meridian and Carl Fife of Jerome and 1 sister Yvonne Lee of Fernley NV. A memorial service will be held Tuesday June 7, 2011 at 2:00p.m. at the Veterans cemetery memorial Wall, Boise. Larry will be sadly missed by all.

Steven Burtch

Steven J. Burtch 1910-2011 Steven J. Burtch, 100, passed away peacefully at his home June 3rd, 2011. The son of Rev. Ford and Bessie Burtch, and the second of 7 children, he was born October 25, 1910 in McMinnville, OR. Steven was raised in Montana and attended college in Bozeman. As a tour bus driver in Yellowstone, he met Arlene Carlson, and they married in 1941. Steven and Arlene raised two sons and two daughters. During World War II, Steven worked as a machinist in the Portland shipyards. There he also served as a lay minister at the rescue mission. In 1961, he and his family moved to Star, where he served as director of Canyon County Civil Defense. After he retired, he and Arlene grew raspberries on their farm near Star. Steven's greatest desire was to serve the Lord and study the Bible. He was an avid reader, and a gifted writer of poetry and theology until his 100th year. Steven was preceded in death by Arlene in 2002. He is survived by his sister, Clara Burtch of Boise; and by his 5 children, Joan Hedges of Surprise, AZ; Lynn Burtch of Tucson, AZ; Sharon Donica of Gooding, Neil Burtch of Boise, and Beth Jensen of Star. He is also survived by grandchildren Diane Claver, Arthur Donica, Allyson Jensen, Abby Jensen, and Hayley Urrutia; and by his great-grandchildren. A true gentleman, Steven lived a long and meaningful life. He was dearly loved by family and friends, who will cherish his memory and miss his wisdom and sense of humor. The family would like to thank all those who assisted in his care. We appreciate them so much. A graveside service will be held 10:30 a.m., today (Tuesday), June 7, 2011 at Dry Creek Cemetery. Wanda McGill

Wanda Rae McGill, 73, died peacefully on Saturday, June 4, 2011 following a struggle with cancer. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends whom she had touched throughout her memorable life. Wanda was born Feb. 4, 1938 in Nampa, Ida., to Herbert and Lillian Reaman. She was raised on a river ranch in Eagle. Wanda attended the small two-room Blue Valley Grade School. She then attended Meridian High School, where she was first chair trumpet player in the band. Wanda graduated with honors in 1956. After graduating, she married her high school sweetheart, Stanley, on July 19, 1957. The marriage was later solemnized at the Idaho Falls LDS Temple in 1974. Wanda and Stanley shared 54 years of cherished marriage. Wanda attended the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she enjoyed leading many activities and functions. Wanda was passionate about her many hobbies and interests. She was an avid gardener and spent much of her time surrounded by her beautiful flowers. She also took pleasure in decorating her house with her numerous collections. Wanda is survived by her husband, Stanley McGill; two sisters, Janet Wilson, and Norma Palmer; six children and their spouses, Mike and Anabis McGill, Kelly and John Broadous, Tim McGill, Shauna and Dan Bain, Pat and Gabriella McGill, and Heather Ann McGill; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and her seven beloved cats, Petey, Maddy, Baby, Wally, Tinky, Fluffels, and Barney. Wanda was preceded in death by her father, Herbert Reaman; mother, Lillian Reaman; brother, Stanley Reaman; and brother, James Reaman. Carried away on the wings of angels, Wanda is secure in the arms of our Lord and Savior. A viewing will be held from 7 to 9 p.m., today, June 7, at the Zeyer Funeral Chapel, 83 North Midland Blvd., Nampa 467-7300. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, at the Meridian Cemetery in Meridian.

McGill, Wanda Rae, 73 of Meridian, died Saturday, June 4, 2011 at a local hospital of natural causes. Services are pending. Arrangements are being provided by the Zeyer Funeral Chapel, Nampa. 467-7300
