Carole Poches

Carole Ione Poches August 15, 1938 - May 13. 2011 August 15, 1938 an angel was born in farmhouse atop a windy Nebraska hill. Carole grew up with three brothers. They were raised by their mother Dorothy, grandfather Leroy (Colonel) and great uncle Charlie Whipple. She attended a one room school house, grades 1 thru 6 before moving on to school in the town of Belden. Along with her family she did the normal chores that go with dry land farming 320 acres. She graduated from Belden High School in 1956 in a class of eleven. Carole began her college career at Wayne State Teachers College in a two year program leading to a Nebraska teaching certification. It was there she met the man who loved her for the rest of her life, Ron. She began her teaching career in Mead, Nebraska teaching first grade and coaching girls volley ball. June 1959 they were married and shortly thereafter Ron was recalled into the navy. They lived in various USN locations and while he was away on duty, she attended school at Long Beach State and cared for daughter Donna Sue. Prior to his return to civilian life, Carole re-entered Wayne State to renew her credentials. In 1963 they moved to Omaha where Carole taught several years in the impoverished area of North Omaha and eventually to a school in the suburbs closer to their home, all the while pursuing her degree at University of Nebraska-Omaha. She graduated with her BS degree in 1972. Along the way they had two more daughters, Cynthia Jean and Beth Ann. After 13 years the family moved to Boise, Idaho in 1977. Carole continued her teaching career first at Ustick Elementary and then at Eagle Hills Elementary for a total of twenty one years in the Meridian School district. She taught first grade most of those years with a strong emphasis on reading. Her love of children knew no boundaries. Carole had many loves in addition to her family. She loved BSU football/basketball, snow skiing and water skiing and fishing, both salt water and fresh. She water skied until September of 2009 when at age 70 she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. She snow skied the following season before having to hang up the boards. She and Ron were season pass holders to Bogus EVERY year 1977 through 2010-11 as well as season ticket holders to the Broncos from 1977 to present. In the first 32 seasons she missed only 3 home games and made many, many away game trips. Leon E. "Tiny" Robinson

Leon Robinson was born June 29, 1943, in Nampa, Ida. He always said he was the 357th and the largest 12-pound baby born at home with the help of Midwife, Mrs. Thomas. He had a love for finding and fixing old vehicles. He and some friends built a race car, "Lizzy," which he raced at Meridian Speedway and other tracks in Ontario. His car number was 54, a number he used to play Keno in Jackpot, his auction number and always two numbers on his license plate. Tiny worked at Meridian Wood Products where he met his first wife, Roberta. Together, they had a daughter, Bonnie Jean. Tiny helped raise Mike and Larry. He was a Scout leader and helped with their first scooters and vehicles. Tiny worked for Crook's Industries and H.H. KeimCo. In 1975 he met and married Beverly Wylie. They have three sons: Toby, Lonnie and Zach. After Keim's shutdown, he hauled scrap iron and bought and sold '55, '56 and '57 Chevys and Chevy parts, traveling the Northwest, to form Triple Classics and to sell to Classic Chevy International. He also refurbished items that he re-sold through the Caldwell Auction. He enjoyed yard sales, storage auctions and estate sales. Talking someone into a lower price was always fun to him. When in January 2010, his leg was amputated, he returned to the Wound Clinic in his full pirate's outfit, including a toilet plunger as his peg, bringing smiles to the medical staff and patients. In recent years, he enjoyed planning for the 4th of July - plenty of food, people, and stories. On May 15, 2011, he told his last story, after a long and courageous battle with Crohn's disease, diabetes and congestive heart failure. Tiny is survived by his wife of 35 years, Bev; his children, Mike Robinson, McCall; Larry (Lil) Robinson, Hamilton, Mont.; Bonnie Richardson, Nampa; Toby (Chris) Robinson, Notus; Lonnie (Mayra) Robinson, Boise; and Zach (Niki) Robinson, Homedale; and 12 grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Pat (Rod) Trumble, Umatilla, Ore.; mother-in-law, Madge Wylie, Melba; stepdad, Bert Whitmore, Caldwell; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and cherished friends. Tiny received a lot of joy from his children and grandchildren - equally proud of them all. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Ethel Robinson Whitmore; father-in-law, Clark Wylie; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. His family would like to thank the many doctors and nurses who touched his life; Elks' Wound Clinic; St. Luke's Hospice; and A Full Life Agency, especially Sherrie, who spent the last two years with him. A celebration of Tiny's life will be held at the Melba Senior Center on Saturday, June 4, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to Melba Quick Response Unit or your favorite charity.

William Hall

William Lincoln "Bill" Hall 1922 ~ 2011 William Lincoln "Bill" Hall, 89 years of age, passed away in Boise, Idaho, on May 16, 2011. He was born in a farmhouse near Frost, Texas, on May 3, 1922 to Walter and Mary Hall. The baby of the family, Bill lived mainly in Cisco, Texas with his brother Elzy and four sisters: Ethie, Esther, Edna, and Cora. The son of a sharecropper, Bill attended a small three-room schoolhouse, worked in the cotton and cornfields, and earned 5 cents for each jack rabbit he dispatched for the ranchers. In 1940 Bill's family moved to Pasadena, CA. In 1942 Bill was inducted into the U.S. military and served honorably in England during WWII as an Air Force mechanic on B-26 and B-17 bombers. Bill married Lois Ellen Shirley on September 12, 1947. They recently celebrated their 63rd anniversary. After the war Bill owned a tile company in Pittsburg, CA. and then Hall's Printing and Stationary in Hollywood. For many years he printed the ballots for the Grammy Awards. They moved to Boise in 1977 where Bill owned Johnson Sporting Goods in Emmett and later worked in the sporting goods department at Payless on Fairview. For several years he served as a volunteer for the Boise Police Department. Jim, Charlene and their families later followed them to Idaho. In 1952 Bill committed his life to Jesus Christ. He served different churches over the years as deacon and elder. He was a member of the Gideon's Bible Society. Bill will be remembered for his kindness, loyalty, generosity, ability to forgive, and also his love of the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He was either bailing out boats, getting stuck, scaring away fish and game, or losing his hunting dogs. The outdoors was always an adventure with Bill. His sense of humor will be missed. Bill left us a rich legacy of love for God, family, friends, and country. He leaves behind his wife, Lois; his daughter Sharon and her husband Patrick Sullivan of Phoenix, Arizona; Charlene and her husband Gary Miller of Meridian; Jim and his wife Kelly Hall of Boise; six grandchildren (Holly, Shannon, Erin, Geoff, Drew, and Patrick) and four great-grandchildren (Asha, Brennan, Jackson and Cora) and his best friend, Eric Olsen. Another member of the "Greatest Generation" has entered his rest. Well done, good and faithful servant. The family would especially like to thank the care givers at Four Rivers Hospice for their professional care and the personal concern they showed to Bill and his family during the recent months.
